Over the past 10 years, the cardiovascular community has made tremendous progress in the fight against heart disease – the nation's number one killer. Heart-related deaths and the severity of heart-related illness have fallen by 27 percent.
Unfortunately, however, that progress is now in jeopardy. Recently the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services finalized a decision to cut the payment rates for vital cardiovascular services, reducing patients' access to their doctors and important imaging tools needed for sound diagnosis. Most patients, particularly those on Medicare, cannot afford to find a new doctor. They also cannot shoulder higher co-payments or make extra trips to the hospital – both of which will result from these devastating changes.
Your involvement is crucial to safeguarding Americans' access to cardiovascular care.
